Wind That Blows The Corn

There’s a fierce wind
that bends the wheatgrain
to and fro

it would take
an exceptionally strong
wind to bend the stalks of
corn that grow

I’ve heard it said
once long ago, that a woman’s
will was measured by how
far the wind could bend it so.
